A few years ago, my cholesterol level went above what was comfortable for my doctor and the medication word was tossed around. While I have a very healthy appreciation for the miracle of modern medicine, I wanted to wait as long as possible before I go down the path of the medical model.
I started investigating foods that help reduce the “bad” cholesterol and increase the “good” cholesterol in my diet.
I found that food blogs out there were either vegetarian, vegan or straight omnivore (loaded with butter cheese and animal fats).
What I want to eat is a high plant based diet, with food that is low in saturated animal fats and high in fish oils. My “bad” cholesterol is now 25% lower.
